THE BASHFUL OSTRICH 5K IS THE 7TH ANNUAL RACE/FITNESS WALK (formerly THE RUN FOR THE CHILDREN) whose goals are to raise awareness for the survivors of sexual abuse and to raise funds for organizations involved with therapy and prevention.
More information is available at the Bashful Ostrich 5k Race website, www.bashfulostrich5k.org.
The race will be held at 9 A.M. on MEMORIAL DAY, MAY 28, 2007, at SHARON WOODS PARK, SHARONVILLE
Our logo is the ostrich, a bird that is known for hiding its head in the sand, symbolizing society's attitude towards sexual abuse. Our goal is to remove the taboo from sexual abuse, allowing this bird to raise its head in glory and race on to healing and wellness.
This race is open to runners and walkers and features the beautiful lakefront paved trail along the woods of this Hamilton County park. The 5K course will be USATF-sanctioned and results will be posted online. The race begins at the boat dock area parking lot where race day registration will be held. Food and refreshments will be available afterwards along with awards and door prizes.
The race flyer and entry form is now available and also at the website of Steve Prescott, race director. Steve directs many local races and provides accurate timing as well as online registratioon .
THERE WILL BE A PRIZE FOR THE BEST DRESSED PARTICIPANTS IN AN OSTRICH COSTUME!!
Flyers will also be available at most running stores and at the businesses of our generous sponsors. Please support them!
